Golf Swing Made Easy – Information on How to Lengthen Your Drive and Cut Your Handicap

Ive just come across a terrific book by David Nevogt , also known as The Golf Swing Guru where he guarantees to lengthen your drive and cut your handicap by 7 to 12 strokes in just 2 weeks.

As a dedicated golfer, hitting off 27 on a good day! , I figure anything that can do that has got to be worth getting – even if its only half as good as everyone says.

Some of the questions posed in this book are:-
1. Is your golf swing is providing you with the results you need to compete?
2. Are you throwing strokes away by topping, slicing or hooking the ball?
3. How many penalty strokes do you typically have during a round?

And in my case the answers are:-
1. No
2. Yes
3. Too many

How about you?

Some interesting golf facts:-
Did you know there are 27 Million golfers in the world?
And did you know that the average gross score is 107 ??
And less than 20% ever get a handicap under 27.

Would you like to get your handicap down to a number youd be able to brag about?

This book explains in simple terms how you can lower your score every time you play.

And it stresses that its your golf swing that drives your score, not your clubs or the ball you play.
As David says, that is the truth in simple terms.

It seems to work though. So far in 2006 people from 16 different countries have been helped by having their swing problems fixed. And as we all know, if you fix that problem and build an easy repeatable swing all the other good stuff can be built on more easily.

Some indication of Davids success can be seen from the fact that “The Simple Golf Swing” has helped 7,987 golfers during the past 2 years. This system is rated the #1 golf instruction system on the Internet and the reason is quite simple its because it works.

Im looking forward to seeing the results Davids going to get with my really ugly swing! Ill let you know how it goes.

Some Of The Best Golf Training Drills To Help Improve Your Golf Swing

If you are like many golfers, you want to improve your driver golf swing. Though many players may not be aware of how they can do this. Consider using some drills to enhance your already good drive golf swing, to a great one that will help you take some strokes off of your score. Practice drills are designed to help a player improve their swing and learn the game of golf.

What are golf drills?

Many golf drills are designed to allow the player to conduct a series of exercises all focusing on one specific skill or attribute in the game of golf. The drills are generally conducted in a different way than an actual golf game is conducted, therefore the player may view the drills as out of place or odd looking. Drills only have the results of improving the game of golf, not playing the game of golf.

The following are a few drill methods that you can use to improve your personal golf swing:

The Easy Driver Drill

This drill is a classic one; simply go to your favorite driving range. Hitting the 150 flag is the only goal you should have in your mind. By using this drill, in no time flat, you will find your golf swing has improved dramatically.

The Hip Turn Drill

This drill can be used with any type of club. The drill is designed to create alignment of the hip and sometimes golfers use it as a gimmick trick shot.

To conduct this drill, swing the driver with one arm and keep your body square at all times. You may look a little out of place or odd to other players, but who is developing their hip rotation and who is not? Proper hip rotation is crucial in the game of golf.

Give no Quarter Drill

Another drill that may leave you feeling a little silly, but works nevertheless is the Give No Quarter Drill. This drill works well in developing the swing on all clubs. This drill has the sole purpose of helping you develop balance in your swing. Here is how it works; you would put a quarter on the foot of your lead leg, prior to swinging. The whole objective is to maintain the quarter on your foot during your swings. If you have bad balance, the quarter falls off. If the quarter remains, your balance is looking good.

By implementing and practicing these drills, you will find that your good driver golf swing, turns into a great one in very little time.

Grooved Golf Swing Series – Critical Advice About Feet & Weight Distribution During The Golf Swing

In this article I am going to progress from stance to
hitting the ball and then to the follow through, and show
how weight distribution happens automatically when you
adopt the movement of the chest and upper limbs as one to
make your swing.

At address, be totally relaxed. So relaxed that you relax
right down into your groin. So relaxed in fact that if you
had a full bladder you would have an accident. Only then
should you start your swing. Try to maintain this relaxed
state during the whole swing.

Have your weight evenly divided between both feet. Make sure
your feet are only as wide as your shoulders at maximum. If
they are too far apart they will hamper your swing a bit. Experiment with wider and narrower stances to see what I
mean. Then pick the one that feels most comfortable to you.

Something that is perhaps not known by everyone is that the
weight must be on the inside of both feet at address. You
achieve this by pushing your feet towards each other. So it
would be more accurate to say that the pressure and not the
weight should be on the inside of both feet.

Stand up now and with feet apart, push your feet towards
each other. You will find the weight localizes on the
inside of the feet, and there is a great feeling of
firmness in your stance.

This helps greatly in preventing body sway and keeping your head behind the ball at impact.
Have your weight a little forward towards the balls of your
feet.

Further to what I said in my last article, the weight is
held on the inside of both feet as you turn your chest to
take your arms to the top of your swing.

Don’t lift your left heel as this detracts from the
firmness and allows some sort of sloppiness to creep into
the swing. Lifting your left heel destroys everything you are trying
to do. You lose the feeling of weight on the inside of your
left foot and your down swing will be sabotaged too as you
will see below.

At the top of your swing, just stop for a moment. You will
find that most of your weight had moved onto the inside of
your right foot without conscious thought from you. Note
you are still pushing your feet towards each other. You
still feel firm and in good control of the swing.

There is perhaps 10 to 20 per cent of your weight still on the
inside of your left foot at the top of your back swing. The
transfer of weight to the right allows the body to remain
centred and the hip turn which is necessary to allow your
chest carrying the arms to turn to maximum.

All this happens without conscious thought, automatically. There is
certainly no sway. Your head remains nice and still and
behind the ball.

Similarly, things happen automatically on the down swing.
Just turn your chest to bring the arms down, hitting
slightly out and away from yourself, (in to out swing). You
will find that your weight now transfers to the inside of
your left foot.

Just before impact your weight should have
shifted so much that you will feel the major part of it on the
inside of your left foot. Your weight moves onto the inside
of your left foot as you go through the ball with no
conscious thought from you.

Maintain your weight on the inside of your left foot until
your club head has travelled through the ball for about two
feet. You have not lifted your right heel yet. And this is
what I meant in my last article when I said you do not move
either heel to hit the ball.

The important point here is that if you do move your weight
to the outside of the left foot before this, all sorts of
horrible things happen.
Firstly, it causes you to sway to the left. This causes you
to move out beyond the ball before or as you hit it and you
will hook well to the left.

This is a major cause of
hooking off the tee with the driver. Adopting the above
technique will overcome your tendency to hit your drives to
the left. Also your long irons, and even your wedges if you
move your body to the left with every club.

So a simple thing like weight distribution can overcome a bevy of
errors like hitting fat, thin, topping and improve your
game out of sight. You will probably find you will keep
your head down more as moving in front of the ball causes
you to look up.

Now once you are a couple of feet through the ball, your
weight will move automatically onto the outside of your
left foot, and the club goes on to the top of the follow
through.

When you are a couple of feet through the ball, turn your
right hand over your left by turning your wrists in an
anticlockwise direction, and continue to the top of your
follow through by raising your right heel so that only the
toe of your shoe is on the ground and you are facing the
target.

I hope this helps you. By adopting what I have said in this
article, you can improve your game beyond belief. I hope
this happens to you.

Golf Ball Striking Tips – Improve Your Golf Swing Today (Part I)

When a talks about “ball striking,” they are simply referring to the full golf swing. A golfer who is said to be a great ballstriker is really just a golfer who has a great overall swing. Here are a few golf ball striking tips to help your golf game, but first let’s separate myth from truth.

The Myth

Prevailing golf wisdom says that one must maintain their spine angle throughout their golf swing in order to have consistency. This myth can be traced back to when the sport of golf first started being played, and has resulted in more harm than good for most golfers.

Why It’s a Myth

For one, it is a difficult concept to really grasp. How many people really think about what their spine is doing outside of when their back hurts? Secondly, the fact is the spine does move during your swing, and quite a bit actually. When looking for golf ball striking tips, many people come upon this one. The most important thing you can do, is ignore it altogether.

Where to Focus

Instead of focusing on your spine angle, focus on keeping your forward bend toward the ball constant. You form this angle initially when addressing the ball and reinforces how important setup fundamentals are to your golf game. Here are some golf ball striking tips to help you do it.

Addressing the Ball

Start by bending from your hips, making sure not to bend from the waist. When you bend properly, an imaginary line coming up the shaft would intersect your spine on a perpendicular angle. Your side bend is almost as important as your forward bend at address and should not be ignored. Ideally, your spine should tilt away from the target slightly to the right by approximately 5 degrees. If you are not bent to the right at address, you’re bent left, and that is not a good place to be.

Maintain your Forward Bend

You will have major swing issues if you change your forward bend, either by lowering your torso toward the ground or rising up toward the sky. If you are rising up on the downswing, you have a much higher risk of hitting the ball thin or putting too much weight on your right side, usually leading to slices. When addressing the ball, imagine your head resting on a wall. As you swing, try to maintain contact with the imaginary wall. This will help to keep your forward bend intact all the way through your swing. If you practice these golf ball striking tips, your golf game will improve before your very eyes.
