Five Golf Swing Tips To Improve Your Golf Game Without The Cost Of Expensive Golf Instruction



Hello my fellow golfers! Here are five easy golf tips to get you playing better golf today! Now let’s get started, shall we?

1. Clear your mind- before you step up to the first tee box you need to clear your head of everything from home or the office and assure yourself that this is going to be fun!

2. Relax your grip-over half of all amateur golfers grip the golf club too tight which causes tension in the arms and forearms! Tension is the number one hindrance to a good golf swing,so lighten-up!

3. Set goals- set a goal,not a specific score, that you would like to achieve in your round that day. For example: if have had putting problems in your last few rounds then spend more time on the putting green before your round instead of on the range seeing how far you can hit your driver! Then set a goal to cut your three putt’s in half from your last round and focus on achieving this goal during the round.

4. Lower your expectations-how many times have you taken a break from golf for one reason or another and then come back and shoot a good round your first time back? You know why? It’s because your expectations were low so your mind allowed your body to perform at a more efficient level.Remember –have fun, it’s a only a game!

5. Know your skill level!- don’t go out to the golf course and try to hit a shot that you saw tiger woods hit at the masters! Your asking too much of yourself and will only lead to frustration and a miserable round of golf. You need to know your own parameters in your game and play within those parameters. I like to use the 8/10 rule. If you can’t execute this shot 8 out of 10 times successfully then don’t try to hit the shot! Remember golf is 90% mental so next time you tee it up use these tips and have fun!

Golf Swing Instruction: How to Develop a Repeatable Golf Swin



The other day I was watching a Golf Channel commercial where Tiger Woods was conducting a clinic. As part of the promo they played a quote from him where he said, “There is no one way to swing a golf club”. Boy did that start me thinking.

You know how differently one pro golfer may swing compared to another (Jim Furyk vs Tiger). Yet they both score well and are highly ranked in the World Golf Standings. How can that be?

There is a golfer at our course who I thought of immediately when Tiger made that comment. We took notice of him some time back as he was normally on the course about the same time we played. He has the most quirky swing I have ever seen. So quirky that our group would often make humorous comments about it.

This fellow would take the club back to waist high, then pause, turn back, then pause again, then up to the top and another even longer pause and finally he would swing down and thru where he would hold the finish position for the longest time. He did all of this while appearing as stiff and mechanical as is possible for a human being. He reminds me of a human version of “Iron Byron”, the robot used by the USGA & manufacturers to testgolf equipment.

As luck would have it, this one Saturday, Dooley Duffer and I were paired with him and his friend. We didn’t realize it was the guy with the quirky swing until the first tee. As he began to take some practice swings to warm up there it was that herky jerky, stiff as a board, mechanical looking, robotic “Iron Byron” swing.

Dooley and I did all we could to hold back the chuckles. Mumbling to each other about how we were expecting a long round with this guy chasing his errant shots all over the place. We couldnt have been more wrong!

This guy kept the ball in the fairway and hit most of the greens. He scored well on nearly every hole. Even shooting 2 under par on the back side! All with that quirky “Iron Byron” swing. He really shut us up.

How? He was able to repeat the swing over and over. As Dooley said later, “The ball did not care about all of that herky jerky stuff in his backswing, just the angle of the clubface at impact.” And that guy certainly had a repeating golf swing in spite of or maybe because of all that herky jerky motion.

The more we can repeat the same swing, the more often we will achieve a predictable result -the secret to lower golf handicaps. To build a repeatable swing, we must:

Stay connected Set the club on the correct plane.

Staying connected is a common factor found among all good repeating golf swings. The shoulders, arms, hands, and club should all move away from the ball in unison. Hinging or cocking the wrists sets the club on the correct plane, which keeps the clubface square to the path of the golf swing.

Two other important essentials in building a repeatable swing are:

Swinging to the top of the slot and Retaining power in the swing.

If the club’s shaft is horizontal to the ground, it should be parallel to the target line. The angle of the club should match the angle of the forearm while maintaining the original spine angle and head position. Settle the weight smoothly on the front side and start unwinding the upper body. The right elbow should be dropped down to the side.

Now I am not suggesting here that you work on developing a swing like “Iron Byron’s”. I think most of us would find it even more difficult to repeat his swing than a more conventional swing. That is because for most of us the conventional swing is the more repeatable golf swing.

Dooley went to the range one day and tried the “Iron Byron” swing just for kicks so to speak. He kept hitting the ball with a high fade/slice. All the more admiration for the guy who made it work so well. At least for that round that very unconventional swing was a repeatable swing. And that repeating swing made all the difference between his scorecard and ours.

PurePoint Golf Instruction – Pitching with Loft & Pitching vs. Full Swing Shots



I’m going to get you back on track with your pitching with golf technique and instruction that you’re just going to love. It’s the reason why you need loft, and here’s why.

A lot of you hit a lot of pitch shots that, after it’s in the air, it maybe has 2, 3, 4 feet of loft to it, and when it hits the ground, it takes off running and runs over the green.

A couple of reasons why you struggle with not getting the ball up in the air: Number one, you have to start using your pitching wedge or your sand wedge and your lob wedge, not your 9 iron to chip with. You need a loftier golf club.

Number two, check the ball position. Make sure it’s in the middle of your stance and your weight’s on your left leg.

And lastly, make sure that you start hitting down on the golf ball so it’ll go up.

Some golf technique and instruction advice I have to give you is don’t get all hung up on backspin. Backspin’s great, but would you rather have a golf ball drop straight out of the sky, or a golf ball that had a lot of revolutions going backwards?

I’d like the one that drops straight out of the sky. That will slow down quicker than one with backspin.

So, don’t forget, for more loft put the ball in the middle of your stance with a little weight left. But make sure you use your sand wedge and your loftier club, maybe your loft wedge to pitch with, and not your 9 iron or your pitching wedge. Your pitching wedge is okay, but it’ll go off a little flatter.

And lastly, the golf technique and instruction never to forget is, don’t forget to follow through low, so you can hit down so the ball will go up.

Now, there is a big difference between the golf swing basics of pitching the golf ball in and around the edges of the green, over bunkers, over little trees, over a pond, 30 yards, 20 yards, 40 yards, and the golf swing basics of hitting your full pitch shot swing.

Whenever I’m talking about chipping and pitching, I’m talking about golf shots that are in and around the green. If I’m not talking about that, then I’m talking about your full swing.

The technique to hit to the green in front of you is ball in the middle, weight left, handle forward. And it’s an arm swing.

Now, if you want to hit a full wedge shot, it will go way over the green.

With the 90-yard swing, you can see a difference with your golf swing basics at address. Your body turns, your shoulders turn, which moves the weight a little bit over to the right side, and the arms swing up and down.

As you start to bring the golf club back, your shoulders start to turn and your weight moves backwards a little bit. That’s a full golf swing.

And the 40-yard pitch shot is a big difference in the two swings. One, the 100-yard wedge was just like the driver swing, but with a wedge in your hand. The pitch shot is a miniature little tiny golf swing that you don’t move any weight to your right side.
